About Marcy Cruz
I\'m a storyteller and writer at heart. I love being able to be the voice of the customer through my work by improving the customer journey and experience on a website. I don\'t think of my work as just trying to sell to someone. I think of it as me telling them why they should shop here and then ensuring that the assortment and site layout reflect that. I\'m especially passionate about the plus size customer as she doesn\'t have easy access to clothing as her thinner counterparts do. The plus size fashion sector is currently valued at $2.7 billion U.S. dollars. So why are many brands not expanding their sizes? I want to do my part in helping more brands offer sizes above an 18, which is now the average size of the American woman. This passion led me on a path into the plus size fashion industry where I have had many accomplished roles. I\'ve held positions as an eMerchandiser and copywriter for brands such as Jessica London, OneStopPlus.com and Fashion to Figure, where I improved the customer\'s experience online and increased sales as a result. I spent eight years writing articles for PLUS Model Magazine, which offered me a opportunity to put on my journalist hat. My written articles helped the blog grow, increased readership and helped lower the site\'s Alexa rating while increasing page views and click-thrus. My position also gave me the opportunity to attend events, fashion shows and panels, building strong relationships with plus size brands, leaders and PR firms. I spent three years as an agency-signed extended sizes fit model for brands wanting to expand their size range, which I used as an opportunity to also offer my input on the fit and customer experience. This led to Allure Magazine featuring me in the video \"The Secret Life of a Plus-Size Fit Model\", where they shadowed me while at a fit job for inclusive fashion brand Universal Standard. I\'m currently working as an e-Merchandising Manager at Saadia Group, handling their plus sizes division (Fashion to Figure and New York & Company Plus). In this role, I have gained experience working with Shopify Plus and Algolia to manage an ecommerce website, planning homepages and marketing strategies, writing product copy, category descriptions with SEO-friendly keywords and promotional copy. I get to be a storyteller full-time AND be an advocate for plus size women. My passion drives my work ethic and perseverance. I\'m open to working in other spaces where I can offer my experience, story-telling talent and passion. If you are interested in hearing more, please reach out. Thanks!
