Managed patent portfolios for multi-billion dollar clients including Microsoft Healthcare (including Nuance), Azure Networking, and Business Application Platform (Dynamics365 suite, Power Platform, Power BI). Work included developing and executing worldwide patent strategies, inventor trainings and patent harvests, reviewing invention disclosures, overseeing worldwide outside counsel in their preparing and prosecution of applications, and annuity reviews. Key technologies include: natural language processing (NLP) & understanding (NLU), machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI)(both training and applications), fiberoptics, hollow core fiber, networking, data security and privacy, mixed reality, internet of things (IoT), customer relationship management, enterprise resource planning, healthcare, software, hardware. Counseled executives, engineers, and product attorneys on a wide range of IP issues including IP licenses, acquisitions, integrations, FDA approval for medical devices, joint development agreements, and codecs. Spearheaded patent integration for multibillion-dollar acquisition including 2500+ active patent assets, and managed due diligence and integrations of several smaller acquisitions. Coauthor of Microsoft’s patent drafting and prosecution guidelines. Author of patent section of company wide Integration playbook. Led Microsoft’s inventor process committee that improved engagement efforts, streamlined submission workflows, and produced video education series targeting first time inventors. Member of the CELA Intern Steering Committee which oversaw summer legal intern hiring and administration, and managed CELA intern in 2020. Organized Microsoft’s 2022 panel at Lavender Law on how in house attorneys can impact and encourage their organizations’ social justice efforts.
