ABOUT MARCUS GUEDO

Senior Mechanical Engineer (P.Eng.) with 20+ years in the design, construction, and trouble-shooting of hydrocarbon pipelines and their associated facilities. I have a wide variety of project experience with many different Oil & Gas assets – subsequently I’ve gained a broad skill set in the following areas:+ Process and Piping Design of transmission, storage, and utility systems.+ Pipeline & Facility design codes, ie. CSA Z662, ASME B31.8, ASME B31.3.+ Operations, Maintenance, & Integrity support including MOCs and RCAs+ Equipment, Instrument, and Material specification & requisition.+ Creation of project deliverables such as DBMs, PEPs, FEED studies, cost estimates, etc.+ Process and Construction safety (via HAZOPs, JHAs, and construction execution planning). Some of my favorite career highlights include:+ Joining Sunstone Projects, a small-sized EPCM, as a Mechanical EIT in 2004, and then being invited to join the ownership team as a minority shareholder in 2008.+ Working on the detailed design of NPS 54 tube-storage facilities, where two-phase HVP fluids are stored in a series of short pipeline segments.+ Overseeing pipeline-riser repair activities in the Grande Cache area, including the use of a novel pipeline support system where soil compaction could not be achieved.+ Providing engineering support on the original Access Pipeline, a dual-pipeline system transporting diluent and diluted-bitumen.+ Learning various hydraulics & process simulation software (eg. SPS Pipeline Simulator, Pipe-Flo, Promax, and Hydrasolv) to conduct simulations of pipelines, facilities, and piping networks.+ Joining Alliance Pipeline in 2017 to gain practical experience in an Owner / Operator setting.+ Expanding my engineering skillset and becoming a Responsible Member (RM) by joining Obsidian Engineering in 2023, where I get to work with a talented group of senior mechanical engineers.Lastly, I’ve been the fortunate beneficiary of excellent mentorship throughout my career. I’d like to thank all of my colleagues who’ve helped me along the way, especially those at Sunstone Projects, Alliance Pipeline, and Obsidian Engineering.
