The city of Las Vegas was founded on May 15, 1905 and is home to 678,922 residents. The largest city in Nevada, Las Vegas is governed by Mayor Shelley Berkley and six city council members. City Manager Mike Janssen, who was appointed by the city council, oversees administrative duties and the city’s more than 3,000 employees.
Covering 133 square miles, the city of Las Vegas is building a world-class destination to showcase the best in arts, culture, entertainment and medicine by expanding the revitalization of downtown Las Vegas with projects like the World Market Center and Symphony Park.
