ABOUT MARCOS VERGARA DEL CARRIL
Marcos is a senior executive leading on all sorts of business and legal matters for Netflix´s local language originals across the world. He is licensed to practice law in California, Spain, and Argentina, and negotiated, drafted, and closed high caliber deals for more than 200 Netflix local language series and films with innovative and visionary companies and artists (e.g, overalls, first looks, IP acquisition, PSAs and licensing agreements, key above-the-line deals, and other agreements). Between 2015 and 2023, Marcos was a board member of the National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP), a premiere nonprofit organization that addresses the needs of Latino content creators in the United States. Before joining Netflix, Marcos worked at the Entertainment, Technology, and Advertising team at Sheppard Mullin, working on development, financing, production, acquisition and distribution of motion pictures, digital and television programming; branded content, virtual reality, music publishing, touring, and record deals; consignment and auctions of paintings; social media and DMCA compliance; employment and guild matters; advertising, sponsorship, and FTC compliance. He has worked on projects for cutting-edge companies such as Oculus, Snap, Amazon, Focus Features, Ogilvy, eOne, Sun Distribution, StudioCanal, and Nickelodeon.Prior to joining Sheppard Mullin, Marcos worked in the Capital Markets & Finance Practice Group of Clifford Chance, where he advised international companies and financial institutions in major debt restructuring transactions, securitization facilities and security packages.His personal and professional background gives companies across the globe a unique opportunity to translate the always complicated Hollywood legal jargon into plain language.Marcos published a book entitled ¡Déjame hablar, on freedom of expression and media consolidation in the U.S, covering free TV, cable TV, satellite TV, video games and the Internet.
