Research and development of ARRA seedless grape in Europe.My role in the company covers a wide range of aspects. Starting from the selection of new clones which are potentially suitable for the European territory, I am involved in the development of each seedless grape variety based on the pedology, climate, rootstock and variety adaptability, pests and disease susceptibility. This part of the job includes frequent farms visits all over Europe, seeking for new territories for the cultivation of seedless grapes, creation of new relationship with the different actors of the table grape sector, data collection as well as guideline preparation, and technical support with a focus on the cultivated variety of each farm.Licensing providing, variety registration process, together with the promotion of the varieties and raising awareness of the breeding program represent the second consistent part of the job. The latter includes: periodical report preparation, international meetings, maintenance of the relationships with the authorized nurseries, plant material orders, management of the importation of new varieties, several work travels around the globe involving my participation to exhibitions, symposiums, and field days focused on table grape.

ABOUT MARCO TEMPESTA
I have been working in the horticultural sector since 2009, firstly as a farmer and olive oil producer in my family business, then as an agronomist in a private company and as a researcher at the university. Nowadays I run an office of few smart employees in Southern Italy on behalf of AVI, exclusive licensee for the ARRA varieties in Europe. I travel a lot and give my best to allow the diffusion of innovative seedless grapes in the European territory.I have a great attitude to deal with both farmers and businessmen at the same time.During the day I could either stay in the field with my ”dirty shoes” full of soil scraps or wearing a suit ”spick-and-span” standing in front of an audience and holding a speech at an international conference.I am able to work under pressure, both in Italy or abroad, autonomously or in a team, either in the field or in any office around the globe. I have a natural attitude to understand and handle everything involving information technology and innovation. Propose me any innovative tool to be tested in the field, I will support You.When working in this sector, I never consider it as a job since I have a great passion for it.
