About Marco Salazar

Most companies treat payments as plumbing. I\'ve spent 15 years proving it\'s something else entirely.Payments is an anchor product — the entry point to identity, financial services, and personalized ecosystems that compound in value over time. When it\'s designed well, it retains liquidity, deepens engagement, and creates the data foundation every adjacent financial service builds on. When it\'s treated as a cost center, that opportunity disappears. At eBay, I owned a ~$100M embedded services strategy from a blank page — building multi-year roadmaps and revenue models for regulated financial services initiatives, leading global payout infrastructure evaluations focused on licensing depth, settlement economics, and treasury yield preservation, and driving a 144% revenue increase in instant payouts by restructuring the economics and optimizing for adoption. At Discover, I led the evaluation of a biometric payment rail designed to become a scalable API platform extensible to any identity provider. When the infrastructure failed PII standards, I recommended killing it. Leadership aligned. Infrastructure trust has to precede ecosystem expansion.Regulation isn\'t a constraint I work around. It\'s a variable I design for.I\'m looking for a platform ownership role in embedded finance or payments — wallet, payouts, or merchant financial services — with direct revenue accountability. If that\'s a conversation worth having, I\'d like to have it.
