About Marco Oriella
I am a curious, ambitious, and analytical professional honing an expertise in accounting, strategy, and sustainability. Through my actions both in my work and my personal life, I strive to promote a more sustainable and socially just world.Currently, I am a Manager in Deloitte\'s internal reporting practice with a focus on sustainability compliance reporting. I will be responsible for the development, implementation, and management of Deloitte\'s ESG compliance reporting framework, working closely with various stakeholders to drive Deloitte\'s sustainability agenda. Before joining Deloitte, I served public and private clients in Grant Thornton’s ESG & Sustainability practice in the areas of materiality assessments, climate risk assessments, greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory management plans (IMPs), assurance readiness, and limited and reasonable assurance. I also developed a subject matter expert in Europe’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and its European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). I produced educational materials on the CSRD, actively participated in a multi-accounting-firm group that discussed complex or unclear accounting issues with the goal of consistently interpreting and applying the ESRS, and advised clients on how they will be affected by and can prepare for the CSRD.Additionally, I served both public and private clients for four years as a member of KPMG’s and EY\'s assurance practices. My previous experience consists of leading integrated audits under PCAOB standards and financial statement audits under AICPA standards. My industry experience includes manufacturing, pharmaceutical, bio-tech, utilities, and professional services industries.I hold a B.S. in Accountancy from Boston College and an active Ohio CPA license and AICPA membership. I have also completed training programs with the GHG Protocol and the TCFD.
