ABOUT MARCO A. GODINHO

As a DON of Divine Mercy Hospice Care, I am learning about Las Vegas and here I found a huge number of patients who are living completely alone, with estranged families and isolated from the community. It really alarmed me and now I am in a crusade to make of Divine Mercy the best Hospice Service in the Metropolitan area. After almost one year, I can say that yes, today, without any doubt, I have the best and compassionate Hospice Service in Las Vegas. I am on the health field for 19 years,working in different settings, when I discovered Hospice finally I found my niche. I discovered the real meaning of life and death, and the real meaning of help people to die with dignity. Be able to give comfort for terminal ill patients is a blessing, rewarding and unique position. A huge myth about Hospice is that is a place to die, no it’s not! It’s in the opposite is a place to live well and comfortably the sunset of our lives. I am proud to be part of Hospice and able to help my patients as a whole person, not a number or a disease. I am proud to be able to help families to go through such difficult times. In Brazil, I was a Communication Professor at the Faculdade Estacio de Sa, in Rio de Janeiro, and at Fundacao Armando Alvares Penteado, in Sao Paulo. I lived in Europe for many years, also in Africa and South America due to my job as a Journalist. Here in USA a developed my taste for Nursing and help others in a different way and I still improving my self in this field, acquiring every day more skills and knowledge. I am an accomplished and energetic RN with a solid history of achievement in geriatric and general population. Motivated leader with strong organizational and prioritization abilities. Areas of expertise include long term care, mental health and sub-acute settings. Proficient in the management of patient care. Now my experience on degenerative diseases puts me on top to care of my Hospice patients.
