ABOUT MARCIE M.

Marcie is a servant leader whose work seamlessly integrates philanthropy, social justice, and cultural preservation to drive meaningful change. As Director of Colorado’s State Historical Fund, she oversees an initiative that awards over $10 million annually, contributing more than $371 million since 1993 to support over 5,760 preservation and archaeology projects across all 67 counties. These efforts have generated an estimated $3 billion in economic impact, preserving spaces of deep cultural and historical significance. SHF funds preservation and archeological projects and sites across the state. In 2019, Marcie founded Nia Philanthropy, a practice combining social investment and data insights to empower purpose-driven ventures. By applying a gender and equity lens, she has worked with diverse clients—from the Colorado Health Foundation to grassroots organizations like Satya Yoga Collective—amplifying resources and innovations across sectors.Marcie’s career reflects a deep commitment to equity and community engagement. She co-administered a $37 million special tax district for the Scientific & Cultural Facilities District. Serving over 300 arts, culture, and scientific organizations across a 7 county area. She also led arts and culture programming and the internationally renown dance company as the Managing Director at Cleo Parker Robinson Dance. Her semi-professional dancer and arts educator background underscores her belief in the transformative power of creativity.A Colorado Trust Foundation Fellow, Marcie earned her Master’s in Nonprofit Management while conducting fieldwork in post-apartheid South Africa. Her dedication to leadership development is evident through programs like Leadership Denver, the African American Board Leadership Institute, and her continued board service.Marcie currently reimagines philanthropy and preservation through bold, equity-driven strategies, creating lasting legacies that inspire and empower communities.
