About Marcia Hughes

My career was proudly built on a tower of \'transferable skills.\' I successfully navigated roles in media, education, management, fundraising and development, and human services. I have been proud to share my skills in each role. Always honored to serve my home state and community, I was twice appointed to the Iowa Commission on Volunteer Service, am a proud graduate of the Cedar Rapids Leadership for Five Seasons Program, and am a past president of the Iowa Cultural Corridor Alliance and of Leaders In Volunteerism. I\'ve served on the leadership boards of HACAP Food Reservoir, Rotary West, Playtime Poppy Children\'s Theatre, Horizons Family Service Alliance, the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art, Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre, Cedar Rapids Concert Chorale, Cedar Rapids Convention and Visitor\'s Bureau, Iowa Children\'s Museum. I\'m grateful to have received the Governor’s Volunteer Award, Iowa Communicator of the Year Award, Waypoint Woman of Achievement Award, and DMACC Outstanding Alumnus Award. Additionally, I enjoy sharing my time and talents as a singer and actor and have appeared in productions at Theatre Cedar Rapids, Mirrorbox Theatre, Riverside Theatre, City Circle Theatre Company, Old Creamery Theatre, Iowa City Community Theatre, Giving Tree Theatre, TKM Productions, Hancher Auditorium, and the Englert Theatre, as well as with the Cedar Rapids Symphony (now Orchestra Iowa), I-380 Express, Vanguard Jazz Band, and Dan Knight Jazz Trio. Most importantly, I am the wife of Scot, mother of Katie (Hughes) Roling and Spencer Hughes, and the over-the-moon proud Nana of Eleanor and Benjamin Roling.
