Houston, TX, US

At Phillips 66, I have been charged with a very diverse portfolio. I am the attorney responsible for all trading matters in the commercial group related to clean and heavy oil products and natural gas liquids. As a general matter, my responsibilities for the refined products group are normal course of business trading matters and trading documentation. In this regard, I spearheaded a project to completely revise the Phillips 66 General Terms and Conditions for Refined Products, having not only drafted the terms, but also working with a wide variety of departments across the company for their input and approval. These revised terms now form the basis for how Phillips 66 views its preferred contractual terms. For the midstream NGL group, my portfolio ranges from transactions related to the fractionation of the raw liquid product and the associated physical purchase and sale agreements for both the raw and “purity” products to connection agreements and transportation obligations. In addition, Phillips 66 has several joint ventures in facilities for the fractionation of the raw product, and I have negotiated agreements with our partners.Unrelated to my assigned portfolio, but based on my extensive background in both derivatives and banking, I been asked to and have counseled our derivative accounting group and accounting policy group on several projects. I also regularly counsel our credit group on credit support documentation and because of my expertise with New York law related to both banking and trading obligations, I was able to assist our London affiliate in the drafting and negotiation of an unsecured letter of credit facility obviating the need for outside counsel. Finally, I work closely with our compliance group regarding the implementation of Dodd-Frank relating to our physical trading activities. I am on the front lines of assessing various transactions to ensure compliance.
