About Marc Hoopingarner

I build sales analytics and insights functions for fast-growing natural and better-for-you CPG brands — the kind that have strong momentum but haven\'t yet built the data infrastructure to sustain it. Three times now, I\'ve been brought in to do this from the ground up: at GT\'s Kombucha, That\'s It, and GOOD PLANeT Foods. The work is similar each time — consolidating messy data from SPINS, Whole Foods, distributor portals; building KPI dashboards and competitive analysis; developing sales forecasting models; and creating the fact-based selling stories that sales teams use in buyer meetings, category reviews, and new account pitches. The through line is channel expansion. I specialize in helping brands that start in natural channel cross over into conventional grocery, club, and mass — which requires a different kind of data story for a different kind of buyer. At GT\'s, that meant supporting entry into five new channels. At That\'s It, 80% annual growth in MULO. At GOOD PLANeT, a nationwide launch into 270 Sprouts and 400+ Whole Foods stores with 52% revenue growth in six months. I\'m based in Ventura, CA and I’m open to local or remote opportunities. Always interested in connecting with people in the natural CPG space — especially brands navigating the move from natural to conventional retail.

Experience

  1. Manager of Sales Planning and Business Analytics

    Good Planet Foods

Jun 2023 — Present · Ventura, CA, US

Reporting to the VP of Sales, I was brought in to build out sales reporting and business analytics functions to support the nationwide launch of their new olive oil plant-based cheese products.• Use multiple data sources (SPINS, Whole Foods, distributor portals) to create fact-based sales insights for sales presentations and Board of Director Meetings. Developed Distributor and Key Account KPI Dashboards, and competitive market analysis (pricing, growth, market share, sales velocity, and inventory levels). • Collaborate with Sales Management and Operations to develop new Sales Forecast Model by Customer and SKU to support monthly demand planning and new item production.• Implementation of these new tools and processes resulted in successful product launch of new Olive Oil Plant-based cheese line in major national grocery chains (including 270 Sprouts stores and over 400 Whole Foods Market stores), and 52% revenue growth from July 2023 to Dec 2023.
