About Marc Fiuczynski
Bridging two decades of carrier-scale CDN production with next-generation transport research. At Rutgers Computer Science (affiliated with WINLAB), I\'m focused on three converging problems: hardware-accelerated QUIC offload (QuicNIC), multicast extensions for Media over QUIC (MoQ), and mapping IP multicast onto 5G MBS Transparent Mode — giving telcos, MNOs, and LEO satellite operators a scalable, standards-based path for efficient large-scale delivery. The production foundation is real: 95% unicast offload serving 1M+ set-top boxes on just 2+ multicast data plane servers during the 2022 FIFA World Cup. BGP-informed DNS routing evolved across 20+ ISP deployments reaching 1–10 Tbps daily peaks. Co-designed CMCD extensions for multicast visibility and intelligent failover preventing thundering herd scenarios at live streaming scale. Research principles that survive commercial deployment become industry standards. The rest become cautionary tales about market timing.
