About Marc Feickert

I would like to get back to what I love and do best: knowledge engineering and knowledge base management, preferably in a support setting. I love content. I especially take pleasure in making sure that people can find that content! Along with that comes a passion for XML and manipulating content formats. I seek an employer who also cares to work in the way I have found best: making search, knowledge architecture, knowledge engineering, and publishing processes ALL revolve around the content.The most professional satisfaction I ever found was as a knowledge engineer for a technical support knowledge base. I got to work with multiple types of content that needed standardization to XML; work with editing, translation, and publishing chains to help encourage more efficient digital publishing methods for over 100 languages, and pioneer work in semantic architecture for enterprise-level storage and retrieval. The work was content-driven as it should have been. I know that someone, somewhere, has need of a skilled person to handle such critical processes full time.    My job is to make sure that workers and customers can find the content they are looking for! I use a variety of tools sets to target these main crucial areas- Search tuning- Information architecture (controlled vocabularies, taxonomies, ontologies)- Content authoring and formatting- Content translation and and all of the above for multiple world languagesAccomplishments- Fall 2023: Completed POC and research on Brightspot CMS imlementation runnign with Semaphore knowledge manager. Found benefit of enhanced metadata t search success, but more importantly identified areas in the core search that were misconfigured. Fixed over search pages in 44 languages to properly evaluate keyword matches and rank documents more effectively. Success rate of search increased from 40% to 75%- Q1 2025: Released a test search interface and chatbot at RootsTech 2025 to show ability AI search across help content, RootsTech sessions, and research wiki pages (powered by Inbenta). Search success rates are above 90% in 10 langauges, and approval came from leadership to continue with production release efforts. Productrion release scheduled for this year for 10 languages, and planning underway for an additional 34 to be covered.
