About Marcelo de Oliveira
I have been working in earth sciences (geology, geochemistry, petrology, geophysics, geostatistics, GIS tools) and materials science & engineering for about 20 years, specialized in create, develop, and apply cheaper, faster, and better ways to find mineral deposits that could make strong difference to solve global problems. After moving to the USA, 2015/2016, I started working applying my skills, even more, to help creating, developing, and establishing new clean technologies. I have 15+ years of managerial experience, including C-level positions, setting, developing, and leading multidiscilplinary and multinationality teams in Brazil, Canada, and United States. I graduated from Federal University of Para State in Brazil (2003, Geology), and I specialized in petrology and geochemistry through a Master (2005) and a PhD (2009), with focus on geochemical modeling and experimental petrology (high T and high P systems). Straight after finishing the PhD, I was a postdoctoral fellow at Institut des Sciences de la Terre d\'Orléans (2010, France) working on crystallization experiments of crustal/mantelic liquids. Later on 2016 I started a 2-years postdoctoral position at MIT (USA) working at the Materials science and Engineering department on an hydrothermal processing of feldspars. Alongside my former colleagues, we published several scientific papers and two process/material patents.I started my career in the traditional mining sector, learning through different stages and areas, including greenfield fieldwork (Brazil, USA, Australia, Suriname and South Africa), data interpretation/analysis, drilling campaigns, and ore modeling. However, I was always trying to think in a more efficient way to find mineral deposits, mainly by applying concepts from petrology, geochemistry, and geomorphology, to choose areas to perform mineral exploration. As a consequence I gathered 13+ years of experience building exploration models and successfully applying in the field, to find new types of potassium, calcium, copper, nickel, and phosphate ores.I feel incredibly motivated to apply my skills and experience in as many ways as possible to fight climate change, to decarbonize the world for our future generations. I trully believe that we should do it at the same time that we promote respect, inclusion, equity, and diversity, which are all connected to make our society a better decarbonized place to live.

We\'re building a new foundation for the climate era. Cement is responsible for about the same amount of greenhouse gas emissions as all of the cars on the road today. Cement has been one of the most difficult materials to decarbonize, until now.We have invented a way to make carbon-negative Portland cement that is identical to conventional cement and lower in cost. Simply put, our process will turn one of the most intractable climate problems into a carbon-negative climate solution. We have more than a dozen positions open for chemical engineers, chemists, metallurgists, head of people, and more, please visit our website!
