ABOUT MARCEL MALFITANO

Marcel Malfitano was called to the Ontario Bar in June, 2013, after completing his articles at Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP in Toronto, Ontario. He received his Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School in June, 2012. Marcel graduated in the top 5% of his class and was involved in student life at the law school as Chair of Student Caucus, a staff writer for the school newspaper and business manager of Osgoode\'s annual variety show \"Mock Trial\". Prior to attending law school, Marcel received an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Classical Civilizations from the University of Toronto, Trinity College.During Marcel\'s articling term, he was exposed to a wide variety of corporate securities work. The highlights of his corporate rotation include assisting with two public offerings and a private placement of securities. During his commercial real estate rotation, Marcel gained experience assisting both vendors and purchasers in several transactions involving large commercial properties. At Davies, Marcel obtained invaluable drafting experience by preparing certificates, indentures, subscription agreements, authorizing resolutions and a comprehensive commercial lease. Prior to his articles, Marcel was a legal research assistant for Professor Mary Condon (currently a Vice-Chair of the Ontario Securities Commission). He conducted research for her in preparation for a lecture series on a number of securities law and class action issues.Marcel is currently working as a Director in the Ontario Legal Claims department at Intact Insurance Company.
