Founder and CEO of Burke Law Group, a full service law firm serving the energy and infrastructure industries. I counsel clients across the energy and infrastructure sector, including oil & gas, energy technology, chemicals, hydraulic fracturing, permitting, citizen suit defense, crisis management, criminal environmental enforcement, and environmental investigations.What distinguishes me from my competitors is that I worked in the most senior levels at the regulating agencies in DC and I live in Houston among industry HQs. I am the only attorney in private practice who served at DOI and EPA. Proactive services include: incident response preparation, commercial diligence and corporate counsel, ESG strategy (offensive and defensive), negotiating with government regulators on enforcement issues, on approvals and permits; commenting on proposed rules; achieving permits for projects; environmental diligence on corporate transactions; reviewing or drafting incident response plans to avoid unnecessary risk, confusion, and mistakes in the event of an incident.Reactive services include: incident response, environmental litigation; defending enforcement actions; challenging interpretation of land use and environment regulations before administrative tribunals and in federal court; challenging enforcement actions or Orders taken by DOI, BLM, BSEE, the EPA/ OECA, and the TCEQ and state regulators to reduce fines and continue operations; responding to a crisis as a trusted advisor; helping solve, as a former government official, complex regulatory compliance regimes.
