ABOUT MARCEL ARSAND
I am highly motivated and experienced sustainability professional with over 10 years track record in the supply chain, identifying, managing, communicating and finding solutions to difficult environmental and sustainable development issues.I am passionate about packaging and recycling, and have strong experience supporting the delivery of collaborative programmes for Government and industry to achieve environmental objectives, including through sector commitments, facilitating infrastructure development, advising on supply chain management and developing end markets for recyclables, with emphasis on primary and secondary packaging. I am responsible for managing the delivery of a wide range and size strategic and high profile projects simultaneously, some as the sole Project Manager, and others for which internal and external cross functional teams need to be assembled and managed. Some of my achievements include:* Review of options for the procurement of recyclable PET for food grade application for a global beverage brand. The work led to an investment by the client into a £15M state of the art PET reprocessing facility in the UK.* Co-authored the ‘UK Household Plastics Packaging Collection Survey’ (2009 and 2010), a reference source for plastic recycling information in the UK, including designing the questionnaire, collecting and analysing the data.* Provided technical support to the On-Pack Recycling Label scheme, including managing and liaising with over 170 high profile members and other stakeholders on sustainable packaging design and best practice on recycling communication to UK consumers. As part of the support I also supported the creation of new labels for the scheme and helped to develop the reiterations of the scheme in other countries, including USA, South Africa and Australia.
