ABOUT MARCELA MARTINEZ ANGARITA
As Director of Innovation and Growth, I lead strategic initiatives that drive business opportunities, optimize processes, and enhance product offerings. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, I implement improvements that foster efficiency, productivity, and sustainable growth. Additionally, I oversee the marketing department, developing and executing strategies that elevate brand visibility and engage target audiences. My role bridges creative strategy and operational excellence, ensuring our company stays ahead of industry trends and delivers exceptional value to customers. Before joining PMI Alliance Group in 2023, I gained extensive experience in the diplomatic sector as the Executive Assistant to the Ambassador of Chile. I also served as President of the Colombian-Canadian community from 2018 to 2021, where I was recognized by the Embassy of Colombia to Canada as an outstanding Colombian citizen. My efforts supported the integration and well-being of over Colombians in Canada through nearly 70 workshops and events, strengthening community bonds in the Ottawa-Gatineau region.Prior to relocating to Canada, for 12 years I held various roles in the IT industry, working with multinationals such as Spain\'s Telefónica-Movistar and Mexico\'s Azteca Comunicaciones. I grew from Account Manager to leadership roles, consistently exceeding sales targets and earning recognition. At Azteca Comunicaciones, I played a key role in the Government Funded Project \"Digital Connections,\" leading IT and sales teams to connect over villages across Colombia to high-speed internet.Currently, I combine my role at PMI with my social entrepreneurship initiative, Akiani Handmade Jewelry, which supports craftsmen in Mompox, Colombia, specializing in traditional goldsmithing. This UNESCO-recognized craft is being actively promoted in Canada through my efforts, including providing graduation rings to students at the Université du Québec en Outaouais.I hold an LL.B. in Law from Universidad Libre in Colombia and furthered my studies in Business, Management, and Entrepreneurship at Algonquin College, where I consistently earned a place on the Dean’s Honour List. My business plan for Akiani won top honors during the college\'s elevator pitch competition. In 2024, I earned a Certificate in Risk Management from York University. As a lifelong learner, I am committed to continually advancing my skills, enabling me to seize new opportunities and deliver greater value in my professional endeavours.
