About Marc Carmen

I have spent over 17 years in information technology as a startup founder, backend architect, full stack developer, senior software engineer, and system administrator. For 13 years, I designed and built a scalable, high-performing system providing business management software for small- and medium-sized businesses. In addition, as a founder, I helped create a business plan, presented it to potential investors, and increased revenue streams by finding and integrating with partners. I led small, diverse teams of developers and customer support representatives to create an award-winning system businesses use worldwide. I increased reliability and availability while decreasing costs by migrating from a static server into a multi-zone, load-balanced application server on Amazon Web Services using a combination of technologies: Java, Python, MySQL, PHP, Elastic Beanstalk, EC2, S3, and RDS.My career as a diplomatic technology officer overseas provided me with the opportunity to expand my IT knowledge, particularly in enterprise system administration in a Microsoft Windows environment, PBX and radio networks, and as an ISSO. To enhance system security, I not only completed a degree in cybersecurity but also earned several cybersecurity certifications. I have also served as an IT consultant, assisting customers in navigating the Microsoft ecosystem and solving problems using products like PowerAutomate, PowerApps, Microsoft Forms, and SharePoint. My ability to collaborate with non-technical customers to understand and meet their needs is a testament to my adaptability and commitment to continuous learning.Throughout my career in IT, I have proven my ability to collaborate effectively in fast-paced environments, utilizing agile methodologies to deliver high-quality software. I am passionate about exceeding user expectations and building robust, reliable systems.
