About Marc Berg

My career in academic medicine has encompassed clinical care, research, teaching, and administration. I currently practice at the Lucile Packard Children\'s Hospital in a Level 1, 36-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit academic medical center at Stanford University. My research at the Sarver Heart Center at the University of Arizona focused on resuscitation, specifically defibrillation science and CPR performance. In teaching, I have led the American Heart Association Emergency Cardiac Care Pediatric Subcommittee, contributing to the development of Guidelines for Pediatric Resuscitation and the PALS and PEARS courses, which have been utilized by millions of students globally. Additionally, I serve as Chief Clinical Advisor for Area9 Group, a world-leading provider of adaptive learning software and educational innovation. I am proud to have received several teaching awards for medical student and graduate medical education at both the University of Arizona and Stanford University. My administrative experience includes serving as Division Director of Pediatric Critical Care within the College of Medicine at the University of Arizona, and as a founding member of the Board of Directors for the University of Arizona Health Network (UAHN). UAHN was a billion-dollar enterprise with employees, a health plan, a physician group of 500 doctors, and two hospitals, prior to its merger with Banner Health in 2015. I was appointed by Gov. Jan Brewer to the Arizona Medical Board in 2012, where I served the citizens of the State for 5 years. At Stanford University I\'m a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics and Medical Director of the Revive Initiative for Pediatric Resuscitation Excellence at Lucile Packard Children\'s Hospital. In this capacity, we strive to improve outcomes from pediatric cardiac arrest through quality improvement initiatives, simulation, educational innovation, research, and advocacy.
