About Marc Schanz

Mr Schanz is a veteran communications professional with deep expertise in U.S. military, defense, and national security matters. For more than 25 years now, he has reported on, wrote about, and shaped stories for a variety of audiences about U.S. military and intelligence affairs, the aerospace and defense industry, and law enforcement. He currently serves as senior marketing manager for Leidos\' intelligence business at the company\'s Reston, Virginia global headquarters. Prior to joining Leidos, Marc worked at government contractor CACI International in several roles, including the company\'s marketing lead for its national security mission support business. He also supported business marketing efforts for CACI\'s national security and defense technology sector, and served as a marketing strategist in the company\'s corporate offices. Prior to working in industry, he served as the first publications editor for the Air Force Association\'s (AFA) Mitchell Institute for Aerospace Studies, joining Mitchell in 2015 after a decade of reporting and editing for Air Force Magazine. Before Mitchell, he worked as the senior editor of Air Force Magazine from 2010 to 2015 and associate editor from 2005 to 2010. Prior to moving to Washington, D.C, Marc worked at several newspaper reporting positions in Southern California and North Carolina, where he covered federal, state, and local government, the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps, law enforcement and public safety, and U.S-Mexico border affairs. Marc is an undergraduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and received his masters in international affairs from Georgetown University in May 2013, focusing his research on American security and foreign relations with East and Southeast Asia. In between all this, he lives the girl dad life, does HIIT workouts (yes even incline drills), reads as many classics as he can manage, attends Washington Nationals games (even when they stink - which is a lot), and enjoys cà phê sữa đá (Vietnamese iced coffee), and chả cá thăng long (Vietnamese Turmeric Catfish with Vermicelli Noodles) when and where he can find it. He currently lives in Northern Virginia with his family, and normally does not refer to himself in the third person, but thinks it reads better on a business-oriented profile.
