Headquartered in Denver, Colorado, Gates employs over people across 106 locations in 30 countries. Formerly VP, Tax Planning and Controversy for The Kraft Heinz Company based in Chicago, IL. The Kraft Heinz Company is a global consumer packaged food & beverage company formed on July 2, 2015 upon the merger of Kraft Foods with and into H.J. Heinz. Prior to the merger, I was VP, Tax for Kraft Foods Group, Inc, an $18B North American consumer packaged food & beverage company. I assumed leadership of the tax function in October 2012, when Kraft Foods Group, Inc. was spun-off from its former parent, which is now Mondelez International. I joined Mondelez International (then known as Kraft Foods Inc) in 2008 as Senior Tax Counsel. In this capacity, I was integral to the tax efficient separation of the $55B multinational consumer products company into a global snacks business (Mondelez) and a North American grocery business (Kraft), as well as to the $19B acquisition of Cadbury PLC and subsequent global integration of hundreds of entities operating in every region of the world.Prior to joining Kraft, I was a Managing Director at KPMG LLP, specializing in International and Mergers & Acquisitions tax.I earned my B.S. in Accounting (cum laude) from Marquette University, my J.D.(cum laude) from Brooklyn Law School, and my LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law.
