Synopsis* Software architectures for dependable, adaptive, long-term robotic systems* Behaviour generation for intelligent, interactive robots* Facilitating long-term adaptation to the individual human in real worlds.* Interaction-enabling technologies, scenario-driven evaluation, and human-centered designI investigate these topics as part of my aim to develop and study integrated robotics systems that learn and adapt by (inter)acting in real world environments. The areas I\'m interested in and that I contribute to are * Human-Robot Interaction (HRI) and Social Robotics* Artificial Intelligence (for behaviour generation, learning, planning)* Pattern Recognition and Machine Learning (as enabling techniques for the above)My research agenda follows my conviction that intelligent autonomous systems can only be created and studied by (i) a systems perspective on cognitive robotics comprising an informed selection of appropriate algorithms and approaches,(ii) by involving humans interactively in the process of knowledge formation and learning in autonomous by a strong emphasis of open-endedness in learning and adaptivity, and (iv) by a theoretically and practically profound architectural concept that ties it all together in terms of suitable computational models.
