As a Battalion Training Officer my primary role is to oversee and coordinate the safe delivery of all training, provide 1st line assurance to training being delivered and provide advice and guidance to the senior leadership team. Since being in post the units annual training statistics have improved by circa 20%, I achieved this by mentorship of junior training staff, streamlining the process of qualifying personnel and introducing a training intervention to improve the overall quality of the training, this has resulted in better quality training that is progressive, relevant and realistic.I was the senior planning Officer for an internally run 6-week promotion course for 32 potential junior leaders, 27 students passed, the course consisted of teaching the theory behind leadership and management, teaching the students how to deliver basic lessons, how to safely coach and be a safety supervisor for a live firing range and how to command and lead Soldiers on operations in the UK and overseas.I was selected to act a liaison Officer for a multinational Brigade Headquarters on a NATO overseas exercise in Romania that involved over personnel, I was required to influence and improve the headquarters planning and execution to achieve the exercise’s overall goal. Additionally, I was responsible for the permanent range team that delivered live fire shoots to UK, French, USA, and Romanian service personnel, this required rigorous application of policy, risk, planning, communications to ensure it was accomplished safely.
