As a control & Instrumentation engineer I work within a chipboard manufacturing plant. Covering all aspects of maintenance, development and continual improvement of high speed chipboard manufacturing equipment. Working with Siemens (S7 & TIA Portal) PLC’s. As a control & Instrumentation engineer I work on plant improvements and plan project work. This includes developing PLC programs, HMI & SCADA systems, liaising with contractors, in house electrical and mechanical personnel to ensure completion within desired timescales. I have recently been involved with the installation of new equipment that involved working with machine manufacturers to ensure that work was carried out to the required standard while also assisting in commissioning of their new machinery. I am continually adapting and modifying PLC, HMI and SCADA systems to improve production efficiency and meet production requirements. I have also implemented the safe storage of PLC, HMI, SCADA & drive software. I am writing, installing & commissioning PLC & SCADA installations that include PROFISafe and communications to numerous other PLC’s & communication to redundant I/O servers for SCADA systems. I have embraced TIA Portal and am striving to upgrade all systems in our facility to the latest version. I work with a variety of safety equipment controlled by SafetyPLC that I have to program and maintain.
