   I am a Co-Founder and the Executive Director of Growing Up Boulder (GUB), Boulder, Colorado, USA’s child- and youth-friendly city initiative. GUB is a partnership between the University of Colorado, the City of Boulder, and Boulder Valley School District, the Colorado Nonprofit Development Center, and many other organizations, and its mission is to empower young people with opportunities for inclusion, influence, and deliberation on local issues that affect their lives. I speak and write internationally on the topic of engaging young people from diverse backgrounds in community planning and designing child-friendly cities. For Growing Up Boulder\'s latest work, visit Growing Up Boulder began its first 12 years based out the University of Colorado Boulder\'s Children, Youth and Environments Center, which then became the Community Engagement Design and Research Center. In 2021, Growing Up Boulder transitioned out of the university to become a project of Colorado Nonprofit Development Center (a fiscal sponsorship model). In both settings, Growing Up Boulder has functioned as a nonprofit and conducts the same cross-disciplinary work.
