About Mara Gorman

I am a professional writer and blogger with experience in online branding campaigns and social media. I am also an activist who has grown a state chapter of a national grassroots gun safety organization, successfully lobbied my state elected officials to enact legislation and helped elect candidates who believe in gun safety. I am the current volunteer Chair of the Political Committee for the Newark Area NAACP Branch and I recently stepped down as the Volunteer Chapter Lead for Moms Demand Action in Delaware. I am also an experienced writer who is working on a novel and also wrote for over a decade about family travel, dining, and downhill skiing at The Mother of all Trips, an inspirational blog covering my adventures traveling with husband and two sons. In late 2013 I also published a book for the Traveler\'s Handbook Series called the Family Traveler\'s Handbook: Inspiring families to see the world together. I was awarded a 2021 Delaware Division of the Arts Established Literature Artist grant for the draft of my novel Susanna\'s Cradle. My travel writing also appeared on a number of top travel websites including BBC Travel, AOL Travel, Matador Network, CiaoBambino, Minitime, the Room 77 blog, and in the USA Today Guide to Philadelphia. My other writing was mostly in the area of parenting, lifestyle, and consumer health. I also like to give back to communities I’ve visited and those I hope to visit in the future, especially to the children who live in those communities. I participated in the travel blogging fundraiser Passports With Purpose from 2008 and to 2013 when I joined the board for the remaining three years of the fundraisers existence.
