ABOUT MARCO PASSAFIUME

I thrive in field-oriented environments where engineering meets real-world challenges. I’m driven by practical problem-solving and systems that matter and I feel most at home when I’m traveling, learning, and contributing to impact.Since 2013, I’ve worked in embedded systems across the full stack — from RF layout to FW, data communication and processing algorithms. I’ve always been drawn to the “how” and “why” behind things, and I’ve never hesitated to go deep.My work includes:1. RF and MMIC design, including MIMO/CS radar systems, wireless-powered transponders, IoT from idea to full working devices!2. FPGA development (standalone or with ARM cores like MicroBlaze/Nios) for hi-speed signal processing3. System integration with embedded platforms, real-time algos, wireless protocols4. On-field work in industrial environments for IoT-based safety sensing (VOC detection) and automated production chains (optosensors, PLC)5. Explorations into deep learning, quantum sensing, and neuro-biomedical electronics (patented)6. Advanced physics and math for modeling and “hacking” complex systems into original solutionsBeyond engineering, teaching has always been my drive. In Italy, I managed entire university courses — almost completely unofficially, because guys… that\'s Italy. I handled lectures, labs, evaluations, and thesis supervision. And I loved it. Watching students gain confidence — especially those who didn’t believe in themselves at first — remains one of the most meaningful parts of my work.I led full academic courses in RF, embedded systems (uC, FPGA+ARM & DSP), and complex SDR design (channel coding, MIMO, compressive sensing, multilevel modulations, packed protocols). I created and delivered lab experiences tied to real-world applications, supervised 9+ theses, and mentored dozens of students — always receiving positive feedback and keeping strong bonds with many of them.I value substance over polish. While many profiles focus on keywords, I care about real work, real people, and solutions that improve lives. If that speaks to you, then you already know what kind of energy I bring: deep technical roots, a field mindset, and the drive to make systems work where they matter most — out in the world.I’ve also worked as a freelance designing industrial projects led by private companies, managing groups of 2–6 coworkers and building tight-knit, collaborative technical teams with a strong human dynamic.Outside of work, I’m a passionate theatre actor, director, and writer. I love arts and travel, I hate schematism — in work and in life.
