About Manuel Ballagas
Linguist, editor, translator, and a proven media executive. A journalist with passion and integrity. For three times involved in start-ups of major platforms -Radio Marti, the US Government\'s broadcast venue for Cuba, El Nuevo Herald, the revamped version of The Miami Herald\'s Spanish language daily edition, and founder and editor-in-chief of Centro Tampa, a Spanish language weekly launched in 2005 by The Tampa Tribune. Specialties: New technologies at the service of the dissemination of information and entertainment. Long before most people in the newsrooms even knew what e-mail was, he was already involved in the budding platforms, through BBSs, chat rooms, and web sites in the mid 90\'s. He even wrote probably some of the first reviews of Internet sites, a weekly column called Inter Nos, publised for two years in El Nuevo Herald. Now he\'s at home in the social media as well as the blogosphere. Another of Manuel\'s fortes: financial journalism, after seven years as news editor of The Wall Street Journal Americas -the Journal\'s Spanish language supplement for Latin America.
