As a daily plant support designs engineer at Chevron, I provide daily plant support on a broad range of piping and instrumentation modifications/Upgrades/additions through engineering work orders. My work ranges from vibration mitigations on refinery compressors to design and planning of bypass line installations and routine mainenance. With such a complex business, I am learning every day. In every job, I consider many factors including thermal and structural stresses, process conditions, material selection, and welding/hydrotesting requirements. From communication with maintenance, operations, materials, civil, inspections, etc, cross functional communication is essential to delivering this daily plant support. Above all responsibilities, safety is at the center of all of my design work. To summarize, my responsibility as a Chevron design engineer is to provide the mechanical engineering support necessary to keep the Richmond refinery running.
