ABOUT MANISH MALIK
Multi award winning and thought leading expert in evidence informed use of GenAI and other technologies for Higher education. Experience of successfully leading Institution wide enhancement projects including delivering and leading on some nationally funded projects (RAEng, HEA and JISC) in Engineering education. He is one of the founding members of the UK and Ireland, Engineering Education Research Network. He is also the Chair for ALT South UK group that promotes technology enhanced learning research and practice within HE and FE institutions. Through experience, vision, lateral thinking and passion Manish has been able to influence change and enhancements to meet institutional and OfS metrics and objectives. He can lead initiatives and people through his team working, interpersonal and communication skills. Through his staff development sessions, a large number of colleagues have adopted pedagogically inspired use of GenAI and other technologies. Examples of his work include the Mind-metaphors framework for co-inference and collaborative use of GenAI, using GenAI for SLRs, earliest conceptualisation of Cloud Learning Environments, which are everywhere now, creation of the multi award winning revision service Examopedia, Technology Assisted Project Supervision (TAPaS), introduction of Allthevotes.com voting system at University of Portsmouth (100+ staff users, of student users) and an institutional project involving Chromebooks for exams and active learning in classrooms. He also designed and developed a Computer Orchestrated Group Learning environment that enable collaboration at (not via) the computer and several more learning apps using Generative AI.
