ABOUT MANJU RAJEEV KANCHAN

Hello there! Green advocate here & welcome to my profile. Growing up, I have always been a big fan of the colour green. I love learning about life and nature in general. Stories have always & continue to spark my inner curiosity till date. My future career aspirations were all over the place - right from being an Egyptianologist to studying biotechnology and what not. Somehow fate directed me towards Bachelors in Architecture and it is there that I got introduced to the discipline of Landscape Architecture. During M.Arch (Landscape), I rekindled my love for biology, nature and research. This academically reflected for I not only became gold medallist of the Department of Landscape Architecture but my postgraduate thesis titled ‘The sombre case of an odd triad -dolphin, man and zoonosis’ was also awarded the best thesis that year in addition to securing first position in Namami Gange Sponsored Student Thesis Competition Season 1 on Reimagining Urban Rivers by National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) and National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG). From then on - there wasn\'t much of a turning back. One thing led to another and today here I am working at National Institute of Urban Affairs under the Water and Environment Vertical; doing the one thing I love - Research. My entire life until now has been a juxtaposition of numerous strong, creative yet impactful moments that has ultimately honed the way I perceive and view the world. I have had opportunities to receive numerous prestigious accolades across various fields (literary, cultural, a bit of sports etc.) I have also spearheaded initiatives from a position of leadership at a national and international level under the umbrella of academics and youth. With around 4 years of professional experience in the domain of architecture, reviewing and research, I am a trained orator who has presented at over 50+ stages; the most recent one National Youth Conclave (Y20) under G20 India (Urban 20 India) at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. I am an avid bibliophile, a growing polyglot and an aspiring global citizen with diverse interests and hobbies. My core interests lie within research backed implementations that blur the lines between nature and architecture. I believe that \"At times the answer to a problem might be as simple as merely expanding your mental horizons.\" My design motto is “Sometimes not intervening in a site is also landscape architecture.”And that\'s pretty much what I could cover within the word limit.
