ABOUT MANISH KUMAR

I am actively engaged in techno-legal commercial fields of practice, including technology transfer (TT), licensing, business development, intellectual property (IP) management, and contract negotiations. I bring a diverse academic background in biotechnology engineering and law, with a specialization in IP rights, along with practice experience that equips me with a distinct and valuable skill set. I am an internationally recognized Registered Technology Transfer Professional (RTTP) and a qualified Indian Patent Attorney.I am currently running the IP & Tech Transfer Cell of Office of VIT Innovation, Startup, and Technology Transfer at VIT Vellore with a strategic focus on academia-industry partnerships in accelerated mode. I am also supporting and mentoring innovations and startups at VIT Vellore. Previously I worked at IKP as a founding member of the technology transfer office (IKP-PRIME) which was a World Bank & Govt of India supported office, responsible for setting up the office, and I facilitated identification, evaluation, and technology commercialization from startups to industry, ensuring mutually beneficial outcomes. I have worked with Bharat Biotech, a leading Indian vaccine company, where I led IP, legal, and licensing functions, driving critical innovations. I have had the opportunity to work with different stakeholders of innovations, i.e. Industry, Innovation Enablers (STP & Incubator), and academic/research institute.My practice experience spans IP management, patent drafting & prosecution, technology scouting, innovation assessment, building strategic innovation-industry relationships, structuring business contracts, licensing agreements, investment deals, and negotiations. I enjoy navigating technology-driven business development through technology transfer and commercialization.
