Was accepted and took part in the prestigious NASA PATHways Camp, where I explored various sustainable energy solutions. Me and my team started with a visit to Boston University’s Center for Computing & Data Sciences, which runs entirely on geothermal energy. Next, we examined the wind-turbine blade testing facility in Charlestown and camped in Yurts to experience life without electricity. In Framingham, we saw extensive geothermal boreholes that power the community and presented to a group of students. At Deer Island, we learned how bio-digesters convert waste into methane, cleaning the water before it’s released into the harbor. Our journey culminated with our project design for the hypothetical Peninsula Point, followed by final presentations at the Science Museum in Boston. The final presentations included the proposal of the energy demands and how to satisfy them, contemplating on regenerative farming techniques like vertical farming along with certain experimental technologies like tidal wave energy. This camp was a transformative experience, highlighting the importance of sustainable energy and community involvement.
