Whatever it takes!==My research interests are in epistemology – the nature of knowledge, its representation, its extraction from observations made in the world, and the properties and design of computational systems that are able to do so. My recent research activities are in generative AI, vision and language, factuality, toxicity, and bias. I have over 25 years of R&D experience and around 70 research articles and close to 40 patents (granted or pending). I’m a senior member of the and on senior program committees of NLP and vision conferences.I headed global research at Verisk Innovative Analytics till April 2022, the corporate innovation hub of Verisk Analytics, NJ – a premier, B2B FinTech data analytics company. He founded and led the Verisk AI team since 2016, conducting research into building efficient, collaborative, trustworthy and explainable AI and ML models, systems, and platforms to draw knowledge and insights from unstructured and structured datasets with applications spanning across the insurance, financial services, and the energy sectors. Prior to Verisk, I was a technology leader at SRI International, Princeton, NJ and earlier still, I was a staff scientist at Siemens Corporate Technology, Princeton, NJ building vision systems for indoor multi-camera and aerial security and surveillance, advanced driver assistance and intelligent traffic control, industrial inspection, medical image processing and patient diagnostics. I received my Ph.D. in ECE from the University of Illinois in 2003. I obtained M. Tech and B.
