ABOUT MANDY WESTERN

I am currently a QC Manager for the Laboratory Services team. I directly manage an enthuastic team of Equipment Specialists, Analytical Specialist and Data Reviewers, together we support both the Microbiology and Chemistry QC laboratories with regards to equipment qualification, data review and QC investigations. I project manage and deliver on time and within budget site impacting CAPEX projects, asset management, contract negotiations, equipment procurement and onboarding to tight delivery timelines. I am a proactive team manager with proven experience of developing and maintaining a high performing team.My next step is to move in to a management position within a capital projects and validation department, or a more senior role in a corporate function.My current role also combines my passion and knowledge of analytical chemistry, validation and qualification processes, team management, and Health and Safety. As an employee safety representaive I put my IOSH qualification to good use! Working as a validation officer in Engineering for the packaging industry, I became proficient in designing, writing, and performing process validations, performance qualifications, risk assessments, and their associated reports. I have expanded this experience of approving a number of other documents for example design qualifications and user requirements and training new team members.Working as a Forensic Scientist I worked with secure information, required attention to detail, and put in to practice all the skills and knowledge that I gained through studies and training. I peer reviewed witness statements and analytical testing, as well as writing COSHH and risk assessments.I am an active manager, leading a multi-disciplinary team and mentoring staff. I am an ambassador for change and development and aim to inspire those around me.I have many analytical chemistry skills, including method development. I work well in a high pressure environment, can multi-task and prioritise my work and team delivery effectively.I work closely with QA and collaboratively with many departments including EHS, Engineering, and sterility assurance. I manage projects investing CAPEX and delivering to deadlines. I effectively use project tools to evaluate vendors through tendering processes, budget management, and project delivery. Therefore I am a well rounded leader who is able to provide good customer service to both internal and external clients. I have many skills gained through working in diverse roles, and would be an asset to any team.
