The mission of AdviseVA is to expand access to postsecondary opportunities for students across Virginia, creating a better educated and more skilled Commonwealth. I work toward this goal by meeting one-on-one with students discussing their post-high school plans, giving classroom presentations about post-high school options, and organizing representative visits from colleges and trade programs so my students learn about institutions of higher education from all over the US. I post information regarding college applications, testing, financial aid, scholarships, and opportunities for work regularly via Charlottesville High School’s postsecondary advising Instagram.I am a member of the AVID site team and the sponsor for the Debate Team and the Feminist Literature Club at Charlottesville High School. I served on the Adviser Leadership Council through AdviseVA.I am a pre-service training facilitator specializing in curating content for returning advisers. I lead small group discussions for new and returning advisers to reflect on our training sessions and to share knowledge and experiences with one another.
