About Mamta Murthi
As Vice-President for People at the World Bank Group, I lead my organization’s efforts to support countries to make smart investments in their people. I set strategic direction for the People vertical, build global knowledge on what works, foster key partnerships, and support country operations in health, education, social policy, and gender. I oversee the Human Capital Project, a world wide network that supports data, measurement and peer to peer learning on human capital development. During my twenty plus years at the World Bank I have worked across various functions including corporate, research, thematic and regional roles, mostly based in Washington DC with a stint in Brussels as Regional Director for EU member states. I have a bachelor\'s degree in economics from St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi, and a D.Phil. in Economics from the University of Oxford.
