ABOUT MAMIKO HADA

As a bilingual manager with professional and academic experiences in three continents, I strive to create and deliver programs that would foster understanding and appreciation of others and themselves. I drive the success of my team by listening to our clients and each other, identifying an area for collaboration, clearly communicating and fine-tuning the process, and developing and maintaining team spirit among my staff, clients and colleagues within and outside of our organization. I\'m open to work in the areas of program administration, delivery, volunteer engagement, and training. Previously, I worked as Director of Program Development, with colleagues from within and outside of our organization to identify opportunities for mutual benefit, negotiate and prioritize projects for short- and long-term goals, and implement and evaluate new programs. One example is Kakehashi Program, sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, where we welcomed over Japanese students per year. I directed my team and delivered programs of high quality, and as a result, YFU successfully received the same grant every year while I served as Director of Program Development. Prior to that, I served as Support Services Manager, leading and training a group of volunteers, to help resolve various family and intercultural conflicts that would arise for American host families and foreign exchange students. Training is one of my passions, and I have served as a U.S. and international trainer. Prior to joining YFU, I worked as Program Officer for Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES) at the Institute of International Education (IIE), serving as the primary contact for the U.S. Department of State as well as for professors and professionals from the U.S. and overseas. I also spent time as Programme Officer at the University of Malaya in Malaysia, contributing to the establishment of its first international master’s programs and further honing my cross-cultural skills. A graduate of the University of Tokyo and a holder of post-graduate certificate in counseling, I have earned a Master\'s Degree in Communication from University of Pennsylvania and a Master\'s Degree of Social Work from Catholic University of America, focusing on cross-cultural communication and counseling.
