Lambda is a cloud provider of on-demand GPU services, and I started as the only Site Reliability Engineer on our Storage team, responsible for more than a dozen storage clusters in data centers across the US- Identified more than 4 petabytes of data \"orphaned\" by a bug in our control plane and successfully removed it without drawing a single customer complaint (saving millions of dollars in the process by obviating the need to expand the storage arrays in two data centers)- Improved Lambda\'s tooling for interacting with our VAST clusters by refactoring and expanding an existing CLI tool- Developed an end-to-end testbed for the VAST API to locate incompatibilities between that API and our control plane before VAST updates are applied to production clusters- Established and tuned the first SLIs and SLOs for the Storage team and advocated for SLI/SLO usage across the engineering organization- Configured and continuously tuned monitoring and alerting for SLIs and other key metrics with a variety of tooling (most prominently: Grafana, AlertManager, Datadog, and PagerDuty)- Established processes for incident management and evangelized them across the engineering organization- Managed customer-impacting incidents by coordinating between support, customer success, vendors, and other engineering teams- Contributed to the consolidation and standardization of incident management processes for all SREs at Lambda
