Responsible for an annual department budget over US$4 million and all aspects of department operations, including the development of programs such as Welfare and Enrichment, related policies, assessment tools and schedules. Introduce systems for continuous improvement, keeper training and onboarding frameworks, performance management, safety practices, preparedness for emergency and planned events.• Provide vision and leadership to a team of over 70 staff, Shepherd an ongoing culture change, safeguarding transparency and just culture principles and mentoring emerging leaders. • Provide vision and support to the Executive team, include strategic planning and high-level operations and budget decisions. Partner with other departments including Conservation & Research, Education, Marketing and Communications, Guest Experience and Facilities to improve operations, revenue, as well as staff and guest engagement.• Collaborative design and management of multiple projects of physical infrastructure, including new habitats, coordinating contractors, staff, animal shipments and media efforts. Galvanize stakeholders to prioritize renovations in back of house areas, critical to animal welfare, staff safety and efficiency. • Work closely with the Board of directors in understanding challenges and unique aspects of animal management in a zoo setting, identifying business goals and track progress and how to best support the Executive team.
