ABOUT MALKA PACKER-MONROE

I am a Reconstructionist Rabbi and life cycle officiant in Atlanta, Georgia. I am the Founding Director of 18Doors Atlanta, a Jewish non-profit organization that empowers and supports interfaith couples and families. I serve on the boards for the Reconstructionist Rabbinical Association and MACoM (Metro Atlanta Community Mikvah). ​ I help individuals and families discover deeper meaning, joy and spirituality in their daily lives. My passion is creating inspiring and relevant rituals and ceremonies and invigorating Jewish practices. Inclusivity is at the heart of my rabbinate. My rich knowledge of tradition, playful spirit and authentic connection to Judaism guide my desire to collaborate in creating meaningful experiences. I have been working with clients in recovery from addiction while educating members of my community about 12-step recovery since 2005. ​ As director of 18Doors Atlanta, I provide guidance, resources and trainings for clergy, lay leaders and Jewish organizations to foster more welcoming and inclusive communities. I was ordained at the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College in Pennsylvania in 2014. Prior to my six-year rabbinic training, I earned a Master’s degree in Elementary Education and Creative Arts in Learning from Lesley University, and worked as a Jewish educator for more than a decade. I hold a B.A. in English and Women’s Studies from the University of Rochester. I moved to Atlanta with my spouse, Mercy, in 2015.
