ABOUT MALCOLM PAYTON

I have spent most of this professional life in education, working as a Teacher, Local Authority Director of Education, and Professional Advisor to the Scottish Government Education Department. I have also had the privilege of serving a range of local and national steering groups and leading a number of projects including school leadership programmes and the development of a quality system for schools in Pakistan. I have for over ten years worked as an independent consultant, supporting education system development in the UK, Middle East and Asia. My main interest is how interventions at a strategic level can support improvement and build local capacity to deliver sustainable change. As well as this education work, I am currently involved in local youth work and serve as a Non-Executive Director on a number of Boards including the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service; Capability Scotland; and the Scottish Development Education Centre.
