Key player in all aspects of project lifecycle (Bid Manager, Project Manager, Technical Lead). Equally comfortable producing detailed technical work, whether hands-on lab work, high quality written reports or computer modelling/programming, through to engaging face-to-face with customers, working closely with subcontractors and suppliers, and presenting findings at international conferences. All-round expertise demonstrated by regular, major input to successful project proposals and supervisory roles. Principal Skills and Experience- Technical research background in lasers and optics (17 years), optical communications (7 years)- Project Manager and Technical Lead for fundamental and applied optics research projects- Diverse project work at BAE Systems including: fibre and free-space optical communications (FSOC); hyperspectral and active imaging; photonic crystal fibre power delivery and supercontinuum generation; tunable-frequency laser devices; electro-optic scene simulation- Programming/Modelling proficiency: C, Matlab, Mathcad, MODTRAN, FreeCAD and Arduino microprocessor IDE.
