About Malcolm Wigder
I’m a Physics student at Rice University interested in applying AI and robotics to field-based research.Right now, I work in the Gonnermann Lab, where I study geothermal systems by combining field data from volcanic environments with lab experiments and physical modeling. I’m particularly drawn to the challenge of building tools — both computational and mechanical — that make fieldwork smarter, safer, and more scalable.I also serve as an Engineering Analyst for the Rice New Energy Fund, where I help evaluate emerging technologies in the energy sector.Outside of research, I enjoy climbing, backpacking, and tennis.Reach me at m•••@rice.edu.
