ABOUT MALCOLM MACLEOD

Malcolm MacLeod is a Professor of Experimental Psychology and former Senior Deputy Principal at the University of Stirling. Prior to joining UoS, most of his academic career was at the University of St Andrews where he held a number of senior positions including Provost of St Leonard\'s College, and Vice Principal for Enterprise & Engagement. At Stirling, he had responsibility for academic strategic planning, resource allocation, and the line management of the Deans of Faculty. Amongst other things, he was the Chair of the University\'s Sustainability Working Group, and the Equalities Steering Group.He is an experimental psychologist and a professor in the Faculty of Natural Sciences, an elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and Commerce, the British Psychological Society, and the Higher Education Academy. He has published widely on the executive control of human memory, how and why we forget, and the complex relationship between remembering and forgetting. He actively supports enterprise and entrepreneurship activities, and ways to further develop the University\'s role and profile as an anchor institution in the Region.He chaired the City Regional Deal project boards for Scotland\'s International Environment Centre (Phases I and II) and the Intergenerational Living Innovation Hub. He has strong connections across the higher education sector, Scottish and UK Governments, business and industry. He was a board member and trustee of various companies, organisations and trusts, including the International Advisory Board of Stirling Management School, and Stirling Hotel Services which he also chaired. He is an experienced board member with skills and experience in governance, remuneration, and audit. He served as Chairman of the Marine Alliance for Science and Technology for Scotland, and MAST-S (20••••19), as a Board Member of Dumfries & Galloway College and chair of their teaching committee (20••••24), and as a member of the Scottish Government’s influential review on taught postgraduate funding. He was a member of the Black Sea Special Interest Group, part of the EU-funded DOORS project to promote and support successful Blue Growth activity in the Black Sea.
