ABOUT MALAVIKA RAMAKRISHNAN
I hold a master’s degree in social justice and solutions journalism from the Medill School of Journalism. I assisted The Chicago Tribune on an investigation on corruption in Illinois by filing numerous public records requests and conducting intensive research. I covered the RNC and DNC for four media outlets, including the Tribune. I was a daily news reporter for The Hindu in Chennai, India covering the local government, city council and wrote stories on education, health and infrastructure and breaking news. I am interested in covering politics, city/state government and culture. As an immigrant I bring a global and nuanced perspective to my stories, asking questions that reflect this unique position.
