About Makayla Negus

As a Psychology major and Criminology minor with a life long goal of becoming a lawyer, I have always been drawn to justice and integrity. In the future, I aspire to attend law school and build a career dedicated to upholding the individual rights of my clients and having a meaningful and positive impact on their lives. My core strengths are loyalty, organization, leadership, communication, and accountability. These strengths help me balance my academic and professional responsibilities as an undergraduate student. I approach difficult situations with a positive mindset and an open mind, carefully considering the perspectives of others to reach meaningful conclusions.Here at the University of Tennessee, I was recently elected to serve as the Honor Chairwoman for Phi Mu in 2026! Alongside this, I am currently the Standards Representative for the Nu pledge class in Kappa Alpha Pi, the Pre-Law fraternity on campus. I am also an honorary member of Law Women at the University of Tennessee College of Law. Here, I get the opportunity to observe and collaborate with current law students and deepen my understanding of what it takes to thrive as a future attorney. Beyond leadership and involvement, I work with Volunteer Puppy Partners and Young-Williams Animal Shelter to spread awareness about the importance of service dogs and socializing puppies on campus. I am currently exploring opportunities in the legal field where I can apply my strengths, gain meaningful experience, and contribute to work that aligns with my passions for justice, advocacy, and equality under the law.
